About Comic Books for ALS
Powering hope. One story at a time.
Inspired by Geolina
Geolina was a real patient — a person who lived with ALS until ALS took her. Her family, like so many others navigating this disease, was left with a grief that no family should have to carry alone, compounded by the weight of costs that arrive without warning.
The idea was simple: what if donated comic books could bridge that gap? We tested it. We listed 71 comics on eBay. The collector community responded the way collectors do — with generosity and enthusiasm. Those 71 books sold for $5,113.
The model worked. Comic collections, sitting in attics and basements across America, are an untapped source of real money that can do real good. Comic Books for ALS was built to make that proof repeatable — at scale, with rigor, and with the same compassion that started it all.
Today we are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating across the United States. We accept donated collections via mail, sell on eBay, and direct 100% of the proceeds toward burial costs for ALS patients with documented financial need.
What We're Here to Do
To accept donated comic book collections via mail-in, sell them on eBay, and use 100% of the proceeds to fund burial costs for ALS patients with documented financial need — ensuring every family has access to a dignified farewell, regardless of what they can afford.
What We Stand For
Every person who lived with ALS deserves a dignified farewell. We exist to make that possible regardless of a family's financial situation.
We channel the generosity of comic collectors toward families in their most vulnerable hour. Giving is the engine of everything we do.
Every dollar raised, every sale made, and every family served is documented. We believe radical transparency builds the trust this cause requires.
Comics have always been about community — fans, collectors, creators. We're proof that community can do something extraordinary.
Donated collections are a sacred trust. We price fairly, sell honestly, and account for every book and every dollar.
